Charm and puppies on the day of their birth.

(above and below)

Puppies are five days old and doing really well...gaining weight and staying warm! We began ENS on day 3 and puppies are tolerating the 5 simple exercises well. Charm is an excellent mamma!       9-14-25

Puppies are two weeks old! Eyes and ears are opening, and puppies are beginning to toddle around. They are also growing rapidly, as you may see in the progression of photos. One basic tool for caring for young puppies is a daily weight check. The weigh-in is a critical measure of whether puppies are thriving. If puppies are not gaining weight, we intervene in any number of ways to address the issue and get puppies back on track. Sadly, this time around, we had a case of a puppy not gaining. We and our vet collaborated to support her, but unfortunately Ms. Orange collar passed away this week. Losing puppies is one of the true heartaches of breeding dogs. Now we focus on the fabulous five. Charm continues to be a rockstar of a mom. Looking ahead, we expect puppies legs to become stronger this week, for them to discover toys, and maybe begin to lap from a bowl. 9-26-25

In their 3rd week, puppies really begin to change from infancy to toddlerhood. They are alerting to noises in the environment, trying out their voices, beginning to wrestle, noticing their toys, and walking is becoming more frequent and balanced. Puppies are lapping from a bowl. Next weekend begins social visits ~ we are excited for our puppies to meet new friends!  10-5-25

In their fourth week, puppies are embracing play and movement. They have just-right size play spaces both indoors and outdoors, with a variety of toys, tunnels, and surfaces to explore. There's a lot of chasing and play wrestling and some follow-the-leader...just like siblings or kids on the playground. Puppies are being weaned onto puppy food, which they love. The weekend brought visitors for lots of positive socialization. It's been a great week for our Charm x Carl puppies!  10-12-25

At five weeks old, puppies are certainly bigger and becoming more agile. As you can imagine from the two puppies pictured on the slide, watching the puppies play is hugely entertaining. This week we opened up the large outdoor yard, and the puppies have been exploring a bit further each day. When enjoying their food, we play PupSchool. PupSchool is a noise de-sensitization app with many common sounds that can be frightening unless they are paired early on with a positive reinforcer (food - yum!). Crates have been introduced. Puppies can self-crate in their pen, and they have been eating partnered in crates, as well. Puppies at this age adapt very easily, so we create as many positive novel experiences as we can imagine. Visitors are part of their education, and our social visits have been super beneficial.   10-19-25

In their 7th-8th week, the puppies are very busy! Out in the big run, they are non-stop running, playing, and wrestling. The tunnels are a big favorite for taking a rest or playing hide and seek. Puppies are dining individually in crates, and are enthusiastic eaters, LOL. Health checks at the vet went smoothly, and our vet Dr. Ruge and the staff made our puppies' visit stress-free. The puppies adore all of the attention, and our visits are a highlight for them too.  Puppies begin to go home this week ~ we will miss them, but they are ready. 11-3-25
